Copyright Ownership

Authors retain full copyright of their published articles. No copyright transfer agreement is required. By submitting to Agrifood Research and Enterprise, authors grant the journal a non-exclusive right of first publication, with the article simultaneously and irrevocably licensed to the public under the terms below.

All content published in ARE is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

This license permits:

  • Sharing — copying and redistributing the material in any medium or format.
  • Adapting — remixing, transforming, and building upon the material, for any purpose, including commercially.

Under the following term:

  • Attribution — appropriate credit must be given to the original authors and source, a link to the license provided, and any changes made must be indicated.

No further permission is required from the authors or the publisher to reuse content under these terms — including for commercial purposes — provided the attribution requirement above is met. This differs from the CC BY-NC (NonCommercial) license used by some journals, which additionally restricts commercial reuse; ARE does not apply that restriction. Third-party material: where a manuscript reproduces figures, tables, or other content from previously published sources, authors are responsible for obtaining the necessary permission from the copyright holder prior to submission and for clearly indicating the source.
