Article Types

The journal accepts:

• Original Research Article — full-length reports of original research.
• Short Communication — concise reports of significant, well-defined findings.
• Critical Review — critical, synthesizing reviews of a defined topic (not descriptive summaries).

Focus and Scope

Submitted manuscripts must fall within Track I: Agri-Food Informatics or Track II: Agri-Food Economics and Business, or meaningfully bridge the two. Agricultural or food science content is accepted only as supporting material tied to one of these tracks. See the full Aims and Scope before submitting.

Manuscript Formatting

File Format

Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx) only.

Language

Manuscripts must be written in English only.

Length

4,000–7,000 words, including references, tables, and figures.

Citation Style

• Use APA Style, 7th Edition for in-text citations and the reference list.
• Use of a reference manager (Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote) is strongly recommended.
• At least 70% of references should be from the last 10 years, and preference is given to primary research articles over secondary sources.

Manuscript Structure

Declaration of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies

If generative AI or AI-assisted tools were used at any point in preparing the manuscript — beyond basic grammar, spelling, or punctuation checking — authors must disclose this in a dedicated section placed immediately before the References, using the following format:

• This declaration is not required for basic grammar, spelling, or punctuation checking tools.
• AI and AI-assisted tools must never be listed or cited as an author or co-author — authorship requires accountability that only humans can hold.
• Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of all content, including any part produced with AI assistance, and must independently verify all facts, citations, and sources.
• Where AI tools were used as part of the research process itself (e.g., data analysis), this must be described in the Methods section rather than in this declaration.

Ethics, Originality & Licensing

Manuscripts must be original, not previously published, and not under consideration elsewhere. All authors must have made a substantial contribution and approved the final manuscript. Submissions are screened for similarity as part of editorial screening — see the full Publication Ethics policy. Accepted articles are published under CC BY 4.0, with authors retaining copyright — see the full Open Access Policy.

Submission and Review Process

All manuscripts must be submitted exclusively via the journal's OJS platform at journal.atasmeja.id/index.php/are. Every manuscript undergoes double-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers. Requested revisions must be submitted within the timeframe specified by the editor; late resubmissions may be treated as a new submission. Final acceptance is confirmed by the Editor-in-Chief based on reviewer recommendations. Full details are available on the Peer Review Process page.

Publication Schedule

Accepted articles are published biannually, in January and August.

The official manuscript template (Word), including detailed page layout, font, and spacing specifications, is not yet available. Authors should currently follow the structure listed above; the downloadable template will be linked here once finalized.

Submission Checklist

• Manuscript falls within Track I, Track II, or bridges both, and complies with the journal's Aims and Scope
• Manuscript is in English, 4,000–7,000 words, submitted as .doc/.docx
• All required sections are included, with a structured abstract (max. 250 words) and 4–6 keywords
• References follow APA 7th Edition, with at least 70% published in the last 10 years
• Author Contributions and Conflict of Interest statements are included
• Manuscript has not been previously published and is not under review elsewhere
• Corresponding author's contact details are current and correct
